Celestino Piatti

1922

2007

Celestino Piatti was a Swiss graphic designer / illustrator famous for his numerous (over six thousand) book covers for the dtv publishers. In general Piatti was very prolific—producing over 500 posters from his one man studio. His work is colorful and painted with bold strokes, and as such immediately recognizable. Piatti did occasionally work with photography, this and his love of simple typography show the influence of his early graphic design (1937) training in Zurich.
