Otl Aicher

Otto „Otl“ Aicher was one of the most influential designers of the 20th century, a representative of the international style. Together with his wife Inge Aicher-Scholl (she procured and managed the funds), the sister of Hans and Sophie Scholl (who were executed by the Nazis), and the architect, designer and artist Max Bill he founded world famous Ulm School of Design (Hochschule für Gestaltung Ulm, HfG) in 1953. His design work for multiple clients including Lufthansa, erco, the 1972 Olympic games make him famous. He is also the designer of the type family Rotis, named after the small Bavarian village (it is also the name of his studio there) where he spent the last years of his life.
