Edna Eicke

Edna Eicke (1919–1979) was an American illustrator known for her nostalgic depictions of childhood.

A Parsons School of Design graduate, she worked in advertising before creating covers and illustrations for House and Garden, Vogue, Mademoiselle, and Women's Day. Most notably, she painted 51 covers for The New Yorker (1945–1961), often inspired by her own life and family.

After her work with The New Yorker, she transitioned to children's book illustration. Her work captured everyday moments with warmth and charm, making her a beloved artist of mid-century American illustration. (ss)
