Malevich funeral
Designers
Kasimir Malevich
Year

1935

When one is dying of cancer it gives you time to plan. This coffin, which was designed by his supramatist student Nikolai Suetin, illustrates Malevitch’s conviction and interest in sculpture. I am sure there is more to this story. Indeed Malevich had definite plans for his funeral (see the other images), having recognized the importance of his black square he wished to be associated with it for all time.
