Varvara Fyodorovna Stepanova was an important artist of the avant garde and constructivist designer, painter and fashion designer. She is an important part of the group of constructivists around her husband Alexander Rodchenko. She is also close friends with Lyobov Popova, in fact the photograph(s) of the two of them cheek to cheek (Stepanova left, Popova right) was(were) taken in 1924 by Alexander Rodchenko. She is one of the founding members of constructivism, and as such an important figure in graphic design history.
