The Dark Ages refers to the time between the fall of the classical Greek and Roman times and before the coming of the Renaissance or rebirth, that is ushered in by the ‘invention’ of printing. Certainly there were many developments in this time outside of Europe that would not be attributed to a dark time. This is one of the blindspot of this archive or database.
