The poster by April Greiman and Jayme Odgers is one of a fifteen-piece poster set. This was commissioned by the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee (LAOOC) for the Games of the 23rd Olympiad in 1984.

The various posters were created by both international and local artists and were then selected by the committee to suit the Games and the unique breadth of Los Angeles and the USA’s contemporary art scene.

Unlike most of the other artists who created the posters, Greiman and Odgers are designers and have worked frequently with posters as a medium. Both specialize in digital and new media art, which means that their poster embodies many of the design elements of the New Wave, as well as Odgers’ experimental form of photocollage. (kl)
