Year
1930
Around 1930 Laszlo Moholy-Nagy developed his “light-space-modulator“ as a prop for a stage set. This machine turned on a base and reflected light and shadows. Moholy-Nagy made the silent 16 film called “Ein Lichtspiel, schwarz weiss grau” (a light show, black white gray) which celebrates this machine and the play of light and shadow that it created. The machine was about 70 x 70 cm and including its base about 150 cm high.
