Trajan’s column
Year

112

Trajan’s column in Rome, not only holds Emperor Trajan’s ashes but also commemorates his achievements in the Dacian wars. Clearly a classical propaganda tool the column is also a fine example of the classical roman arts of sculpture and type design. The capital letters used in the inscription are archetypes for latin uppercase letters to this day.
